Stephen L. Alexander is a mechanical engineer at SURVICE Engineering Company. He supports the Soldier Protection Sciences Branch at the DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory (ARL) through modeling, simulation, and analysis of the mechanical response of the Army-relevant materials, developing experimentally based, rate-dependent computational tools for predicting deformation and failure response. In addition to his present focus on advanced UHMWPE composites, his prior work at ARL included modeling the deformation and fracture of human skulls. Mr. Alexander holds an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
