The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) Rotary-Wing Aircraft Training Requirements Study

DSIAC researched and analyzed the Marine Corps’ future operational environment, the operational concepts that impact rotary-wing aircraft, and the training requirements necessary to achieve these concepts. The subjects assessed and analyzed for gaps included ranges, airfields and landing fields/sites/zones, targets, airspace, cyberspace and the electromagnetic spectrum, and live-virtual training. DSIAC identified rotary-wing aircraft training requirements and analyzed Marine Corps Operating Concepts, Distributed Aviation Operations, Naval Strategy, and the Naval Aviation Vision. DSIAC also researched and analyzed the capabilities of the training infrastructure on the East Coast available to 2nd MAW’s rotary-wing aircraft squadrons to determine if the venues met the training requirements for the operating concepts. From this knowledge, DSIAC identified and recommended solutions to mitigate the gaps in current and planned training venues and assets.
