MegaRust is conducted annually to provide a consolidated focus on Navy corrosion issues. Corrosion is a major factor in the readiness and total ownership cost of naval systems. This conference is intended to provide updated information on programs, policies, standards, and fleet experience related to corrosion and promote discussion and sharing of information on technologies and strategies for controlling corrosion.
The conference provides an impartial forum for dialogue between government and commercial organizations and providers of coatings and corrosion control products, processes, technologies, and solutions. Participants include representatives from military, industry, and government organizations involved with research and development, design, engineering, construction, maintenance, modernization, and operation of naval systems that are potentially affected by corrosion. The conference covers all segments of the naval services, including sea, air, Marine Corps, vehicles, and facilities.
“New Technologies are sometimes difficult to introduce to DoD. MegaRust and ASNE have created a platform for businesses from other industries to come together with the DoD to share information on corrosion and best work practices. In May 2018, VSM Group arrived in San Diego to our first MegaRust feeling skeptical about attending. Two hours after our arrival, we engaged in in-depth conversations and meetings with key stakeholders of the U.S. Navy and DoD. One month after attending, MegaRust VSM Group was conducting its very first demo for the U.S. Navy, and in 2019, we have traveled to several Navy installations conducting demos and inspections. The methods used by MegaRust and ASNE staff to bring companies and like-minded individuals together in the same room gave our company the products exposure and created an interest within all attending participants and the DoD, which, to us, was immeasurable.” – Paul Townsend and Walter Hudson III, VSM Group, LLC
