Army Research Laboratory Hypersonic Aerothermodynamics Lead
Joseph Vasile is an aerospace engineer at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL), where he performs computational fluid dynamics analyses to investigate and understand complex flow phenomena and their effects on the aerodynamics of guided munitions. Before joining ARL, he was a senior mechanical engineer at BAE Systems, Inc., where he led, planned, and participated in multiple flight tests of laser-guided munitions. A subject matter expert in projectile aerodynamics, he has worked in computational and experimental aerodynamics in all flight regimes (subsonic, transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic) as well as flight dynamics. Dr. Vasile holds a B.S. in aeronautical and mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
