U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Safety Office
Dr. Laurence Mutuel is a subject matter expert for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) Safety Office, where she provides guidance on system safety and software system safety for manned aviation and uncrewed aircraft systems. She is primarily responsible for safety certification of the Apache attack helicopter and serves as co-chair for AMCOM’s Software System Safety Technical Review Panel for assessing software risk on aviation and missile systems. Her technical focus involves introducing new technologies and/or capabilities, identifying updates to AMCOM policies, and developing risk management processes and techniques with updates to U.S. Department of Defense and Army regulations for system safety and software system safety. Dr. Mutuel holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles, with concentrations on guidance, navigation and control, structures, and dynamics.
