DSIAC worked on an effort to research and analyze the Marine Corps’ emerging operational environment, the operational concepts that impact aviation operations in an amphibious environment, and the doctrinal and process underpinnings that support these concepts. The subjects included current and near-term configuration and capabilities of the Navy Tactical Air Control System (NTACS), current and near-term configuration and capabilities of the Marine Aviation Command and Control Systems (MACCS), the interaction between the two, the state of current doctrinal publications, and requirements for updates or changes. Based on the information, DSIAC identified and recommended solutions to mitigate the gaps in current Navy and Marine Corps doctrine and procedures.
