DSIAC is searching for COTS, small form factor antennas that can meet, or be scaled to meet, a set of specific requirements. Solutions must be Sensor Open-Systems Architecture (SOSA) compliant. (SOSA alignment includes electromechanical connections as well as data and control messages.) The solution must be mechanically and/or electronically steerable.
Solutions must operate on typically available aircraft power (28 VDC and/or multiphase AC) to provide transmit and receive capabilities across a radio frequency range spanning 100 MHz to 40 GHz, either as a single reconfigurable aperture array or a suite of multiple apertures/arrays. Also of interest are solutions that cover a smaller range of operating frequencies if the solution can demonstrate rapid interchangeability.
The antenna will be mounted and installed inside or outside the electromagnetic-energy transparent enclosure to meet the following:
- Mounted and conformed to the skin of an aerodynamically shaped surface on the inside and outside of a pod.
- Allow transmit and receive functions from the apertures on the inside or outside of the pod and still withstand shock, vibration, air load, and thermal environments.
