The Defense Systems Information Analysis Center (DSIAC) is searching for additive manufacturing (AM) materials that are authorized for medical use and can be sterilized for reuse in support of the U.S. Department of Defense. This inquiry is driven by the need for instrumentation for minor surgery and specialty products with high lead times in austere environments where AM–produced parts and products can improve medical survivability and alleviate supply chain logistical issues. The goal of this effort is extending the lifetime use of these parts prior to degradation by U.S. military sterilization methods (autoclave, dry heat, single use). If you have expertise or data related to this inquiry, please contact Travis Kneen (travis.j.kneen.ctr@mail.mil), the lead IAC engineer, or join the discussion on the DTIC DoDTechipedia posting by clicking the “Join the Discussion” button below.
