The average age of the modern military aviation maintainer is in the mid-20s. These maintainers have grown up in the digital age, with very early access to information through the internet. Their ability to retrieve data almost instantly, with multiple choices of delivery, has left these maintainers frustrated with the standard, dated military maintenance manual presentations of text and two-dimensional illustration only. In updating currently dated PDF maintenance procedure source material, we have created a video streaming-like experience that blends video, audio, and photos with moving text, linked cross referencing, and three-dimensional, manipulatable models in an interactive environment. By providing multiple modes of learning, maintenance can be conducted safer and faster, resulting in enhanced mission accomplishment for the U.S. Warfighter.
