A customer working on flight certification of 3D printed carbon-fiber reinforced polymer parts requested assistance in identifying companies that have the capability to 3D print thermoplastics integrated with continuous carbon fiber. DSIAC staff and our subject matter experts (SMEs) from Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) were able to identify personnel that had recently performed seminal research into this area, developed prototype processes and 3D printing technologies, and successfully transitioned these to commercially available 3D printing systems. We provided research papers concerning the effort and contact information.
