DSIAC was asked to research capabilities that provide the warfighter the ability to accurately engage targeted vehicles at a certain weight and speed in a prescribed distance. Existing systems have limitations due to the operator’s close proximity to the threat when engaging a target and limitations on vehicle weight and speed. The ability to engage vehicles rendering them ineffective with non-lethal (NL) effects at standoff ranges provides a capability for warfighters to safely target and achieve the desired effects against threatening vehicles without injuring or killing the occupants in accordance with risk of significant injury (RSI) standards. A summary of technologies of interest was delivered to the inquirer.
