What information is available on the Fusion-Oriented C4ISR Utility Simulation (FOCUS) model?

The Defense Systems Information Analysis Center (DSIAC) was asked for updated information on the FOCUS model, which stemmed from the Fall 2015 DSIAC Journal article “Modeling Intelligence Ped With FOCUS: A Tactical-Level ISR Simulation.”

DSIAC contacted the developers of the software at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Data & Analysis Center, formerly the U.S. Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity, for updated information on the software and points of contact for further discussions.  The FOCUS model, now called FRACTALS, is an entity-level, event-driven, stochastic, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance-centric simulation. It can virtually represent platforms such as land mobile weapon systems and sensors and define their associated movement, collection, acquisition, and communications environment.  DSIAC also collected related technical reports on the FOCUS/FRACTALS software for the inquirer from the Defense Technical Information Center’s Research & Engineering Gateway.
